I’m currently on a train bound for the big apple. I got lucky a few months ago and snagged two tickets to the show everyone wants to see, Hamilton!!! I decided to take my daughter with me, since she had already memorized the entire cast recording (don’t worry- I told her which words she isn’t supposed to sing!) and is the biggest little fan I know. We’ve never had a weekend with just the two of us and I hope it will be a trip she always remembers.
We’ll spend three days in New York seeing the sights, checking out some dinosaur bones at the Museum of Natural History, and getting inspired by the genius of Lin Manuel Miranda.
I exceeded my daily NaNo word count today (lots of down time on a six hour train ride) but tomorrow may be a challenge. I’m still a few thousand words under par and Thanksgiving is coming up fast. This may be a NaNoFail year, but I won’t give up yet. I also won’t beat myself up if I don’t get a lot done tomorrow. I mean, priorities! Besides, Lin himself frequently mentions how long it took him just to write the first few songs of the show. I’m sure he would agree that sometimes you just do the best you can and commit yourself to getting the work done when you can. Don’t you love how I’m acting like Lin and I are best friends and I just know what he would say? Ah, hubris. Anyway, next stop is Penn Station!
