Some helpful sites for my fellow writers:
Writing with Color

When writing and describing characters of another race:
Edit Minion
http://editminion.com/
A cool site that can point out some of your writing issues! Overly long sentences? Me? You don’t say!
Fictionary
https://fictionary.co/
Try a free trial of Fictionary, to help shape your story arcs.(Disclaimer: I was a beta tester for this program and think it’s very cool but I am not being paid in any way to endorse them)
The Inkwell Council
http://www.theinkwellcouncil.com
The Inkwell Council- submit for a free critique of your short story or first three chapters. (I have used their wonderful service as well and am not being paid or encouraged to endorse them in any way but I’ll never stop because they are absolutely wonderful and I consider them all friends now!)
Revision Assignments
http://mkengland.com/pitch-wars-homework-assignments/
Not for the faint of heart, but if you’re hoping to query a manuscript, this is a GREAT place to go if you’re ready to dive into the kind of revisions most books needs before going out into the world. (Note- I first read through these assignments a year ago and thought my head would explode, but now they seem reasonable and easy to understand. So if just reading them makes you anxious, maybe come back in a few months. Let yourself steep as a writer for a little bit first!)
Jami Gold’s Writing Resources
http://jamigold.com/for-writers/
Amaaaaaazing. If you don’t know what a beat sheet is, you need to check out Jami Gold’s site. (Unless you are still pantsing your way through a baby first draft. In which case, finish that first.)
