Last night I sprinted out of the house as soon as my husband got home (to watch the kids, not because I was running away from him) to head over to the WriterHouse for a NaNoWriMo kick off party.
As you might expect, a party for writers on the first day of a month-long writing challenge is a bit quieter than your typical party but there was pizza, lots of Halloween Candy, and space to write, so my little heart was content. I also got some more writing done and brought my day 1 total up to 3601 words.
To complete NaNo, you need to average 1600 words a day, so this is a solid start, but I needed the buffer for days like today, where someone (hint- she’s 3, blonde, and really distracting) prevented me from hitting my daily goal.
So I’m hanging out at 4570 words for the first two days. Tomorrow isn’t looking great either, with very little time to write between preschool ballet, gymnastics, writing class, and finishing my homework for said writing class. I expect my buffer to evaporate by Friday, but I’ll make it up later.
Who else is doing NaNo? How’s it going? Leave a comment!
